Maintenance Assistant

Summary:

The Maintenance Assistant primarily supports picking up donations and food orders for North Country Ministry’s programs. This position also assists the Director of Maintenance with maintenance projects. Additional duties include routine tasks involving the operation and functions of programs.

Position Type:

• Part Time; 16 hours per week (up to 20 hours per week)
• Hourly rate of $20
• Benefits include:

Position Description:

• Assist the Director of Maintenance with the pickup and transportation of donations for the Furniture Program.
• Stock and organize furniture and other items in the furniture building.
• Rotate and organize stored clothing totes in the Clothing Center.
• Perform tasks that may be too strenuous for volunteers operating programs.
• Routinely receive food orders and donations from contacts arranged for the Food Pantries.
• Pick up, organize, and stock food items for the Food Pantries.
• Keep the grounds at the Warrensburg Center and Brant Lake landscaped and clear of snow and trash.
• Assist with maintenance projects performed at all sites.
• Maintain and properly operate maintenance equipment.
• Perform other tasks assigned by the Executive Director and Director of Maintenance.

Physical Demands:

Below are examples of the physical aspects this position must perform in carrying out essential job functions.

• Persons performing service in this position classification may frequently exert force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing more than 50 lbs.
• Must have adequate range of motion in the upper and lower extremities.
• This work involves sitting and standing for variable periods of time.
• Exposure to hot, cold, wet, or windy conditions caused by weather is to be expected.

Supervision Received

• Reports directly to the Director of Maintenance.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to manage and organize multiple priorities.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to lift and move heavy items and assist with furniture pickups.
• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Driver’s License Requirement
This position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate North Country Ministry vehicles for donation and food pickup. A clean driving record may be required.

Employment may be contingent upon the successful completion of a background check in accordance with North Country Ministry policies.
